This November, Marylanders will vote on a number of high-stakes races, including a constitutional amendment.
This amendment, known as the Reproductive Freedom Referendum, will include the right to an abortion and birth control in our state constitution.
After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022, constitutional protection of reproductive rights ended. Now, Maryland voters have the chance to fully ensure our rights regardless of future political winds or leadership. Voting YES on Question 1 will amend the ‘Declaration of Rights’ in Maryland’s Constitution, establishing the fundamental right to reproductive freedom, including abortion access.
Maryland may lean blue, but we can’t take this for granted. We must secure reproductive freedom at a time when states across the country are attacking it.
I encourage you to vote YES on this amendment in November. I hope you’ll consider splitting a contribution between my campaign and FIRM (Freedom in Reproduction Maryland) today to support the ballot initiative.
