Dear RootsAction supporters in Pennsylvania, Today, early voting begins in Pennsylvania, the most important swing state for the presidential election. Information is here and here. If you’ve been reading many of the emails from RootsAction during the last few years, you know that we’ve often challenged Biden administration policies as too timid or corporate or militaristic. For nearly 12 months now, our work has included organizing to demand an end to President Biden’s policy of sending huge amounts of weaponry to Israel while it continues to inflict massive carnage on Palestinian civilians. Meanwhile, polls in battleground states show that Donald Trump has a 50-50 chance of winning the presidency. The foreseeable consequences -- from further undermining of abortion rights and stacking the courts with right-wing judges, to heightened assaults on immigrants and civil liberties, to shredding of environmental regulations, to vicious cuts in a vast array of social programs for health care, education, nutrition, housing and so much more -- are terrible to contemplate. You live in the most crucial of the seven swing states that will determine whether the Trump Republican Party regains control of the White House and all that goes with it.
