“The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
Matthew 9:37-38
** Dear Friends,
------------------------------------------------------------
In the toughest circumstances, encouragement may seem to be in short supply. Today I want to share a window of great and growing hope with you, which I think will inspire you as much as it inspires me.
When the harvest just needs workers
When Christians who are capable and community-minded are so overwhelmed, poor, sick, uneducated or held back that they can’t fulfil their potential to help, it’s a tragedy.
They suffer and cannot share their faith fully - and all the people they would have helped suffer too.
African Enterprise’s Foxfires program trains high-potential young people for Word and deed ministry, enabling them to take Jesus to their communities and beyond.
As a group, these youngsters are full of enthusiasm, energy and hunger to learn.
They are ready and so willing - Foxfires makes them able. And able young leaders are vital to African churches growth and health as the population explodes.
The proof is in the pudding
When 15 year old Nathan heard African Enterprise Youth Team (now Foxfires) speak at his school he was deeply touched by their message. “Seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness,” they preached.
Nathan took on board that he needed to be a Christian, and a Christian rooted deeply in the Word. He gave his heart to Jesus and embarked on a life of ministry.
Nathan is now Bishop Nathan in Rwenzori, Uganda and his ministry has been marked by widespread conversions and a focus on strong, healthy theology - desperately needed in contexts where false prophets and spiritually abusive practices abound.
He has been involved in every African Enterprise mission ever since, and every Anglican priest in his diocese continues to be, too.
Will you give a young person a place in the Foxfires program, and many, many others the chance to receive Christ through them?
For just $50, you can help cover the cost of a high schooler attending a Foxfires event.
Healed to help others
Too many African children and teenagers experience trauma, abuse, low self-esteem and poverty.
This course blends practical ministry training - theology, outreaches, courses and discipleship - with Christian practice, support and good self-care.
Lesedi and Rachel
Those who have battled with hardship already find that it helps them to relate to others:
“Lesedi, a Foxfire, shared her testimony, and afterwards service a young lady Rachel (not her real name) came to speak to her, she told Lesedi that she could relate as she experienced substance abuse, suffered from depression and was always fighting with her mother. She was really touched by Lesedi’s testimony and realised that she needs to change her life.”

Equipped for the task
We teach skills that empower in practice, like first aid, basic financial planning, dance, drama, environmental education, program planning, apologetics, leadership – all to equip solid, life-changing ministry.
Amongst other things, these teams visit slums, run street ministry, take on acts of service for whole communities like street cleaning, and host outdoor events to explain the love of God that drives their actions.
They help run youth camps and support other young Christians at school and church. When they graduate, they spread out into their country ready to strengthen churches and comfortable evangelising.
Thank you for your heart for this work, and to a great opportunity of our time: to see African communities transformed for Jesus.
