Dear John,

Thank you to everyone who donated to AFSC’s Pandemic Relief Fund over the last few weeks! Together, we raised more than $90,000 to kickstart community-based initiatives, and we are already seeing the difference your generous support is making.

With so much news focused on the pandemic, you may have missed a report on global military spending released this week. The U.S. was the top military spender in the world in 2019–and accounted for 38% of the global total. Please join us in urging Congress to invest instead in sustainable peace. Tell Congress: Stop spending our tax dollars on weapons and war! [link removed]

Here are this week’s resources to help you stay informed and support your activism.

Video: Stopping the militarization of border communities: [link removed] Watch AFSC's Vanessa Ceceña discuss how communities are advocating to stop human rights abuses at the U.S.-Mexico border, advance humane immigration policies, and release all people from immigrant detention in this pandemic. And join us on Facebook every Thursday at 4 p.m. ET for weekly updates from AFSC staff.

From our archives: [link removed] PBS recently aired “School Interrupted,” part of the series “The Future of America's Past.” The show tells the story of activists’ efforts to integrate schools in Prince Edward County, Virginia–and includes images from AFSC’s archives.

Be well and take care.
