Congressman Crenshaw here,
This week I called for Congress to come out of hiding, show some courage, and return to Washington to get back to work for the country. I also continued to call for smart reopening strategies across the country to revive our economy and end the shutdown that has hurt so many of our fellow Americans.
As a reminder to Texans in the Second District, I have established a resource page on my website to keep our community updated on the latest developments. The page provides tips from the CDC on how to stay healthy, additional resources for more information about coronavirus, and updates on the federal response to this situation. Please visit crenshaw.house.gov/coronavirus-resources for more information.
Please reach out to my offices if you have a concern, want to hear what we’re working on in Congress, or are having trouble with a federal agency. I have a full team in Texas and in the nation's capital ready to assist you. Be sure to stay up to date by following me on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. For a behind-the-scenes look, follow my staff's official Instagram account.
Now, let's catch up.

Congress needs to show courage and get back to work |
Congress shouldn’t be hiding like cowards while the country is in crisis. We should be in Washington debating and discussing how to solve ongoing problems, one bill at a time. Instead, we are flying into Washington, D.C. every few weeks to spend enormous amounts of your taxpayer dollars and then expecting a pat on the back.
We’re asking our essential workers to show up and do their jobs. Congress is no different. Speaker Nancy Pelosi is the only person who can call the House back into session and that needs to happen sooner than later.
There are no excuses. It's time to go back to work.

we need a smart strategy to reopen the economy |
Millions of our fellow Americans - more than 30 million in the last six weeks - are out of work in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic. We cannot ignore the severe public health and human impact of the economic shutdown. That's why I'm calling for smart strategies to reopen local economies across the country.
We can trust the American people and educate the public on proper risk mitigation so that people can get back to work while we continue to battle coronavirus. That's what we're doing in Texas, with a targeted reopening this week to start to ease the shutdowns that have cost countless livelihoods in our communities. Smart reopening strategies should be implemented throughout the country now that we have bolstered the capacity of our health care system to manage future outbreaks.

Americans should be able to seek justice against china |
I've introduced legislation alongside Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) to allow Americans to seek justice against China for their lies and coverup that allowed coronavirus to spread across the world. Why is this important? Because this is just one step we can take to hold the communist regime accountable for their actions.
This bill will help ensure China’s actions are not without consequences and makes clear that covering up the virus and causing it to spread faster or further than it otherwise would have directly impacted American lives and livelihoods here at home. I spoke to Bloomberg News about my bill this week to explain why it offers a potential solution to hold China accountable. Click here to listen to that interview.
