The same people who say our identities “don’t matter” turn around and use our identities to attack us, other us, and stoke fear against us.

Hi John,

With a few hours before we hit the mid-month deadline, I’ve been thinking about this tweet ⬇️

Tweet from a troll: If only Emily Randall represented everyone, not just the gays

And how it reminds me of this attack mailer from a right-wing group in my last race ⬇️

Attack mailer from a right-wing group reading Let's Set the Record STRAIGHT with the word STRAIGHT bolded and underlined in bright red.

It’s part of a pattern I’ve experienced, as have many queer and LGBTQ+ people running for office:

The same people who say our identities “don’t matter” turn around and use our identities to attack us, other us, and stoke fear against us.

I’m running to fight for working people in Washington’s 6th District. I’m running to bring the voices of my neighbors to the halls of power.

And I am absolutely running to be the first queer Latina in Congress, where I will work to create a world where all of us are treated with dignity and respect — no matter how we live, what we look like, or who we love.

If you’re ready to make history and send a powerful message that ALL of us deserve a voice in Congress, please chip in before midnight:

Thank you so much 💙
