Hello JOhn,
As you know, each month we send out
a list of our favorite books, films, tv shows, theatre and talks that
intersect with feminism and the women’s rights movement. We are
excited to announce that we are leveling up this list of
recommendations and adding a series of cozy conversations with some of
our favorite authors, filmmakers, journalists, and more, all hosted by
Equality Now’s board member, Patricia Amira.
We hope you will join us for our
first session in this series: At home with Christina
Lamb on Thursday, May 7 at 12pm EDT/5pm BST.
Christina Lamb is one of Britain’s
leading foreign correspondents and a bestselling author. Some of her
best-known books are I Am Malala, The Girl from Aleppo, and her most recent book Our Bodies, Their
Battlefield. She has
covered wars from Iraq to Libya, Angola to Syria, and been based in
Islamabad and Rio de Janeiro, Johannesburg, and Washington D.C. She
has a particular focus on issues that affect women in conflict such as
girls abducted by Boko Haram, Yazidi sex slaves in Iraq, and the
plight of Afghan women. She has won 14 major awards including five times being named Foreign
Correspondent of the Year and Europe’s top war reporting prize, the
Prix Bayeux.
We look forward to seeing you on
Thursday, May 7 and take a look at the other upcoming speakers
in the At Home With
Series!
In solidarity,
Emma
