Hi John, it’s Valerie.

My one piece of advice for someone figuring out their way in life is: You need to know your “WHY.” No matter what path you take, you must be sure of why you feel called to do so.

I’ll admit it, John – it took me a bit of time to figure out what exactly my why was. Then, almost all at once, I realized I have been following my why my whole life.

From volunteering at my sons’ school, joining the school governance committee, running for Orange County Commissioner, then for State House and now ending up in Congress — my career in public service has been somewhat unconventional.

But my why has always remained the same: To uplift the common good.

I’ve found my calling, John. I’m in Congress fighting to better my home district, and set precedents of excellence for years to come.
