Friends –

Today is the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month! I want to take a moment to celebrate the rich history, culture, and contributions of the Hispanic and Latino communities here in Colorado.

From September 15 - October 15, we honor the generations of Hispanic Americans who have shaped our state’s identity and whose influence is deeply woven into the fabric of our society. From the early settlers of Southern Colorado to the vibrant communities that thrive in every corner of our state today, Hispanic and Latino Coloradans have played a crucial role in building and enriching our diverse and dynamic state.

Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, numerous events and celebrations will take place across Colorado—from cultural festivals and art exhibits to educational programs and community gatherings. I encourage you to participate in these events, support Hispanic-owned businesses, and learn more about the history and contributions of our Hispanic neighbors.

Let us continue to celebrate the rich diversity that makes Colorado so special, and work together to create a more inclusive and just society for everyone.

Thank you,

Jena Griswold
