“The way of the Lord is a stronghold for the honorable,
but destruction awaits evildoers.
The righteous will never be shaken,
but the wicked will not remain on the earth.”
Proverbs 10:29-30
Friend,
September brings with it feelings of excitement for fall and all that this new season brings, but it also holds feelings of grief and remembrance of tragic days in our nation’s history.
The September 11th terrorist attacks which resulted in the deaths of thousands of Americans and sparked a two decade long war in the Middle East, along with the Benghazi attacks that resulted in the deaths of two CIA operatives and former Navy SEALs, an American ambassador, and an American diplomat and Information Officer.
Looking back on these events causes numerous emotional reactions - anger, grief, and fear to name a few. But among them is also hope, and pride in our country, its people, and what it stands for.
The courage and selflessness of those who put their lives in danger to save their fellow man is something we all should strive to embody.
We may live in a fallen world where terrible things will happen, but we can cling to the hope that God has the final say. Even when the battle seems lost - the war has been won.
The Lamb has conquered death! He is where our hope belongs. He is our stronghold. Don’t let your hearts be discouraged by the state of our world. Instead, see the good, be the good, and remember that He is on the throne.
