Hey John, it’s Marisa Feehan, chief of staff at Run for Something. I’m reaching out to you today with some exciting news this Hispanic Heritage Month.
This year, we’ve made major strides in upping Latine representation in our state and local communities – endorsing 518 candidates, 18.7% who identify as Hispanic or Latine.
Supporting more progressive Latine candidates up and down the ballot is exactly what we need to make progress in our communities in states nationwide. Here are a few RFS alumni who are making historic strides:
- Juan Jaramillo won his big city council seat and broke barriers as the lone Latino representing the growing Hispanic population in Revere, Massachusetts.
- Emily Randall, Washington’s first out queer Latina state senator running for Congress.
- Maria Rodriguez, the youngest commissioner elected in Pembroke Pines, Florida, who’s meeting community members where they are.
It’s diverse candidates like these who are making a genuine difference for people everywhere. And when we run, we win. Run for Something is working hard to recruit and elect more progressives like them who can champion the policies we deserve.
But we can’t do it without your help: In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, will you please rush a donation toward our $10,000 goal before midnight tonight to help elect more Latine candidates to public office?
