Friend: On International Day of Democracy — a day meant to encourage governments to strengthen democracy — I think it's important to remind ourselves of what's at stake this November.

The future of our American democracy hangs in the balance — and that's no exaggeration. At a recent Turning Point Action convention, Donald Trump said, "In four years, you don't have to vote again. We'll have it fixed so good, you're not gonna have to vote."

Our elections are an integral part of what makes us a democracy. Our government is, and should be, elected by the people, for the people. We research our candidates, head to the ballot box on Election Day, and vote for who we believe will best represent us and move our country forward.

But Donald Trump wants to get rid of that. And Rick Scott, his equally dangerous partner in crime (literally), is no better.

Trump incited a deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol, undermining the very foundation of our democracy. But even after that, Rick Scott refuses to separate himself from Trump and his antidemocratic beliefs. 

Instead, he supported Trump's baseless claims of voter fraud and voted to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. He even attacked our American legal system after jurors found Trump guilty on 34 felony counts.

He's proven time and again that he'll put Trump's needs and his own needs above the needs of the American people. And by endorsing the Trump-Vance ticket, he's also putting a rubber stamp on their Project 2025 agenda — a plan that will roll back reproductive rights, repeal the Affordable Care Act, and gut Medicare and Social Security.

I came to the United States to find a better life. But now, we're at risk of leaving our country in the hands of wannabe dictators and corrupt politicians. There's only one way for us to save our democracy from corrupt politicians, friend — and that's by voting on Election Day (while we still can) and protecting our Senate majority.

So please, will you help me reach my $4 million mid-month goal so I can defeat Rick Scott, flip Florida blue, and defend our democracy?
