Today is Democracy Day!
Dear Reader,
It’s easy to take for granted all the things we’re afforded by living in a democratic society. Things like the right to vote and to a free press are core to our existence in America, but our democracy depends on our participation.
Today is Democracy Day, a day when our newsroom — and news organizations across the United States — are coming together to celebrate our role in preserving democracy.
We are less than two months away from another historic election. As the largest swing state in the nation, we are closely following this race and offering comprehensive coverage of what is most important to Western Pennsylvania residents and communities. We spoke with residents from Shaler and West Mifflin about the issues that will sway their votes in November. We also focused on what is affecting the local economy and what each presidential candidate proposes to do about inflation and unemployment.
Those examples just scratch the surface of what is at stake for the health of our democracy. The good news? There’s an easy way you can help: support our work and the work of trustworthy, independent news outlets everywhere.
By donating to PublicSource, you will ensure our reporters can keep uncovering the truth, providing context and asking hard questions. Our work cannot be sustained without you. As an added bonus today, donations up to $500 will be matched by NewsMatch, a program run by the Institute for Nonprofit News. Will you step up and join us now?
