John,

As you might have heard, Labor's MP for Eden-Monaro Mike Kelly has announced his retirement from politics.

That means there will now be a by-election in Eden-Monaro, and already private polling has leaked to the media showing that the Nationals are ahead of Labor by 52-48.

We knew that this by-election would be a close fight and this polling only confirms that.

Our opponents will throw everything they've got at this by-election. They will call on their big donor mates to flood the electorate with advertising as soon as the starting gun is fired.

So we need to start building our campaign now, that's why we're launching our Eden-Monaro Campaign Fund that will be powered by grassroots donors.

We're setting a week one campaign online fundraising goal of $15,000, will you chip in just $5.00 to kickstart that fund today?

I'll donate $5.00

I'll donate another amount

This campaign won't be like ones we've run in the past. Because of the coronavirus crisis, we don't know when the by-election will be and we might not be able to rely on our traditional field campaigning.

We need to be ready for a long campaign where digital, radio and TV advertising will be key to reaching the voters we need to.

Will you help make sure that we're ready from the start by chipping in to our Eden-Monaro Campaign Fund? Just a donation of $5.00 will help make sure that we're ready.

The campaign will be tough, but I know that we can do it. Our Labor movement has always answered the call when we've had a big task ahead of us – that's what we do.

Together we can make sure that the people of Eden-Monaro keep having a strong, local Labor member as their voice in Parliament.

Stay safe,

Paul Erickson
