As we continue to observe Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, we’re reminded of the vital importance of the work we do together. For 26 years, The Trevor Project has been a beacon of hope and support for LGBTQ+ young people, many of whom face unique challenges and risk factors that make them vulnerable to thoughts of suicide. The statistics from our 2024 U.S. National Survey highlight why our mission is so crucial—more than 1 in 10 LGBTQ+ young people attempted suicide in the past year, and half of those who sought mental health care were unable to access it.
At The Trevor Project, we know that reaching out for help can be one of the hardest steps to take. That’s why we’re committed to being here 24/7, offering a lifeline for LGBTQ+ young people who need support. Whether through our phone lines, chat, or text services, we provide a safe space where young people can be heard and validated by someone who understands.
We’ve also compiled a few essential resources to help you and others navigate conversations about suicide prevention.
