Friends -

I want to share something with you that I feel deeply about: I wish we didn't have to send these emails. It’s why it’s important to me that I write or edit every email I send.

I wish we didn't have to ask for donations around FEC deadlines and monthly deadlines. I wish we didn't have to ask people almost daily for a few dollars at a time. I wish we didn't have to send text messages or run ads asking for donations.

But when we started this Senate campaign we made a choice — and the choice was to reject corporate PAC money.

We made that decision knowing this Michigan Senate race will be one of the most expensive and competitive races in the country, and after having rejected it in all 3 of my competitive House races.

So we have to ask.

We have to ask because when lots donate at once, it adds up quick and ensures we have the resources to fight back.

So like I said, we have to ask. And that is especially important around these quarterly FEC fundraising deadlines — the next of which is coming up fast. So please:

Can I count on you to make a contribution to my campaign for U.S. Senate in Michigan? I don't expect you to donate to every email we send, but I do hope you'll contribute to this one.
