The 2017 Trump-GOP tax cuts are set to expire in 2025, and Republicans are desperate to make them permanent. Why? Because these cuts overwhelmingly benefit billionaires and giant corporations, leaving hardworking families behind.
Here’s the outrageous truth: A wealthy household with an adjusted gross income of $2.5 million in 2021—representing the average for the top 1% of individual income earners—was able to avoid paying as much as $64,000 in taxes due to this reduction.
Meanwhile, the top 400 richest Americans got an $800 million break – money that should’ve gone to fund schools, healthcare, and vital services for the rest of us.
It’s time we send a loud message: NO MORE handouts for the rich.
Congress should raise corporate taxes, close billionaire loopholes, and support working families by expanding the Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Tax Credit.
