** Border Angels Update
------------------------------------------------------------
Although we really miss physically delivering every donation, we have learned throughout this pandemic that we have to adapt to better serve our beloved community. This week, we were able to safely deliver over 300 masks from our friend Beena Peter from We Care International.

We want to remind everyone that help, kindness, and acts of love are still present in other ways. Although we cannot all physically be there, the monetary support from your generous donations provide all the migrant shelters with groceries and medicine. Not only that but our friends in Little Haiti were able to purchase a water tank, and the folks at Roca de Salvacion a water heater!

We cannot thank you enough for your help and patience, you all drive us to continue to serve our friends in Tijuana, and get through these trying times together!
Gracias Jess!

We are so thankful to have you part of our Water Drop team! Those who have gotten to know you are inspired by the commitment and passion you bring with you.

Not only do you have a kind heart that puts people at ease, but you also can lift anyone's spirit and energy when the water drop becomes emotional and tiring with your positive attitude.

New bond release!!
We are excited to announce we have posted bond for another individual! He is now able to self-isolate and be free from the enormous COVID-19 threat at the Otay Mesa Detention Center.

We thank you for your continued contributions and urge you to help us spread the message! This pandemic becomes all the more life threatening when these individuals do not have the freedom or means to follow preventative methods and social distancing. We will not abandon our folks in detention, we recognize it is imperative to get as many of them out as possible!

We will not stop until we

** Border Angels in the News
------------------------------------------------------------

Border Angels remains committed to providing assistance to the migrant community, and we continue our work in Tijuana. We recently updated all of you on how we were able to fund the installation of a water tank and station for one of the Border Angels supported migrant shelters.

We want to thank Phillip Canete from Refugee Health Alliance for providing that service, and for being at the head of the last US medical group assisting migrants in Tijuana. Border Angels has given RHA $10,000 this month so that they can continue to build these needed water stations and offer medical assistance amidst this global health crisis while we are not physically able to do so. RHA has also agreed to support our friends at Roca de Salvacion once the expansion is completed if anyone becomes infected with COVID-19.

We are so grateful to have the opportunity to work with organizations such as this one, and to all of you for your continued support!

Aid from volunteers at the border is scarce at the time of the pandemic

By Manuel Ocaño

"Dr. Phil Canete lived in California but decided to move to Tijuana, Mexico, with the aim of being closer to migrants in shelters, where he tries every day to prevent cases of COVID-19 from occurring.

For the past few weeks, Canete and some of his volunteer friends, from the group Alianza para la Salud Migrante, have installed water tanks in the shelters, so that migrants can wash their hands constantly and even if the supply in the city fails."

Despite the growing challenges of this pandemic, Border Angels remains determined to protect and support the community we have pledged to serve. Even though we are currently unable to accept physical donations, we are always accepting monetary donations to support:

1. Our Shelter Aid Program❤️: Especially now that we are unable to receive these items, we need your help to provide funds for groceries, hygiene products, utility bills, rent, clothes, etc.!

2. Familias Reunidas Bond Program👨‍👩‍👧: Given the severity of this outbreak, we NEED to get as many people out of the Otay Mesa Detention Center as we can. With your help we can post bond for more individuals! (Link in highlights under Bond Program)

3. Water Drop Program
💧
: Even after having to postpone public water drops, our team is still constantly in the desert scouting and dropping the supplies necessary for survival. Their work never stops, because the need never stops.

Thank you for your continued support.🖤🦋

DACA recipients shocked to learn that ICE has access to their information

By Maria Santana

"Internal emails and documents obtained by Make the Road New York and Make the Road Connecticut reveal that a DACA recipient's entire application file with US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the agency that manages and oversees the program, can be directly accessed by ICE. That seemingly contradicts the federal government's long-standing stance that any information provided by applicants would not be proactively shared with the immigration enforcement agency except under special circumstances."

Internal ICE Reviews Of Two Immigrant Deaths Stoke Fears About COVID-19 Care

By Joel Rose

'Now the same detention facility in New Jersey is grappling with an outbreak of positive COVID-19 cases among its staff and detainees. And immigrant advocates fear the pandemic will only exacerbate deep-seated problems with medical care at ICE detention facilities.

"It was a broken system already," said Katherine Hawkins, a senior legal analyst at the Project On Government Oversight, or POGO, in Washington, D.C. "And unfortunately, ICE has not been responding with urgency."'
