John,
There’s a close race for an open U.S. Senate seat in Michigan — and the Republican, Mike Rogers, is a major threat to our earned benefits.
Rogers:
-
Voted for Paul Ryan’s Medicare-destroying budgets
-
Has called for “privatization of some parts” of Social Security
-
Wants a commission to slash Social Security and Medicare behind closed-doors
-
Voted against lowering drug prices
Rogers is running against Elissa Slotkin, a Social Security champion — and we need to make sure she wins! This race is critical to defending Social Security and Medicare and expanding our earned benefits for millions of beneficiaries.

John,
Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) is retiring — and the two candidates running to replace her as Michigan’s U.S. Senator couldn’t be more different.
Elissa Slotkin is a Social Security champion. She currently serves in the U.S. House of Representatives and is a co-sponsor of the Social Security 2100 Act — legislation that protects and expands Social Security by requiring the wealthiest Americans to pay their fair share.
Her opponent, Republican Mike Rogers, used to serve in the House as well. During that time, he called for “privatization of some parts” of Social Security. And he voted in favor of Paul Ryan’s budgets, which would have privatized Medicare and raised the eligibility age to 67.
Years later, Rogers is still hostile to seniors. He recently expressed support for raising the retirement age, saying that America has to rethink “what retirement looks like” and “every option’s gonna have to be on the table”.
Tell Mike Rogers to keep his hands off our earned benefits by splitting a contribution of $10 between Elissa Slotkin’s campaign and Social Security Works today.
Not only does Mike Rogers want to cut Social Security — he wants to do it in secret. Rogers wants to create a commission where “you're going to close the door and say the media doesn't get to go in until they come out with a decision".
In other words, he wants to block the American people from weighing in on the future of our earned benefits.
This Senate race is especially critical because it’s for an open seat. Incumbents are far more likely to win re-election, so the winner could serve in the Senate for decades to come.
To protect Social Security and Medicare, we must keep Mike Rogers far away from the U.S. Senate! Split a contribution of $10 between Elissa Slotkin’s campaign and Social Security Works today.
