John, On the debate stage this week, Donald Trump repeatedly talked about how Republicans "wanted [abortion rights] to be brought back into the states." It’s a common refrain — but what does it really mean? To put it simply: it means Republicans in gerrymandered state legislatures are able to decide what people can do with their own bodies. When unfair maps make it harder for the will of the people to be heard, radical right-wing lawmakers in artificially safe districts can pass unpopular laws without facing real accountability. Democracy and abortion rights are inextricably linked. That’s why the NDR PAC is working to elect Democracy Defenders at the state level to support fair maps, protect our democracy, and fight for our fundamental rights.
Since Roe v. Wade was overturned, unfair maps have empowered extreme lawmakers to attack bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom in even more extreme ways, blatantly disregarding the will of the people:
This fall, we have a big opportunity to change the balance of power: Not only do several states have ballot measures to protect abortion rights, but we can also elect Democracy Defenders that’ll protect our fundamental rights across the country! —Team NDR PAC
