If your inbox is anything like mine, you are bombarded with emails telling you that the sky is falling and all hope is lost. These emails advertise 800% matches (fake) and mid-month deadlines (also fake).

You will never get that fake urgency from me.

On the flip side, I also will never sugarcoat things. There *are* real needs that we have right now if we’re going to win.

Real needs, because we are seeing our margin in public polls start to tighten, and our opponent is trumpeting that his campaign’s internal polls show a tied race.

Real needs, because if we lose here in Michigan, Republicans will almost certainly take control of the U.S. Senate.

Real needs, because we are 16 days away from a very-much-not-fake legal deadline with the Federal Elections Commission — our FINAL quarterly report before election day — and it is important that we file a strong report as a signal to those super PACs who are considering spending against us that we will fight back.

So before our final official FEC candidate filing deadline, I am concretely asking: will you chip in $3 to support my campaign for U.S. Senate in Michigan? At this point in the campaign, the vast majority of our contributions come from people like you in response to emails like this one.
