Click here Honoring a WWII Hero's 100th Birthday In Sacramento, Soldiers’ Angels volunteer Chris and his team had the privilege of celebrating the 100th birthday of WWII Veteran Mr. Russell. A U.S. Air Force hero, Mr. Russell served in the European theater, flying 38 missions as part of a B-24 Liberator heavy bomber crew. His courageous service earned him the Purple Heart and Silver Star. To commemorate this incredible milestone, Soldiers’ Angels organized a special celebration featuring a meal provided by Old Spaghetti Factory and Raley’s. Mr. Russell was also gifted a Soldiers’ Angels hat and a beautiful quilt, along with 20 heartfelt birthday cards sent in by virtual volunteers. The team of Angels made the day extra memorable with personal gifts, including hygiene items. Volunteer Chris spent hours talking with Mr. Russell, captivated by his sharp mind and remarkable stories from his time in the war. This day was not just about celebrating a birthday—it was about honoring a life of service and sacrifice. If you want to help create meaningful events like this to honor our Veterans, consider joining Soldiers' Angels as an Angel volunteer.
