Welcome to Hogan’s Highlights! Every week, we’ll give you an exclusive look at Gov. Larry Hogan’s journey on the campaign trail and round up the biggest stories impacting the state of the Senate race.
This was a busy week. Gov. Hogan visited festivals across Maryland, received a MAJOR endorsement, and joined CNN for an interview. Make sure to read the entire newsletter to find out how Gov. Hogan spent his week!
On Saturday, September 7, Gov. Hogan started his day in Anne Arundel County at the Piney Orchard Street Festival.
Gov. Hogan: “We had a great time meeting residents, local business owners, and seeing so many families enjoying the festival with their children. Thank you for the warm welcome!”
Next, Gov. Hogan headed to the Reisterstown Festival in Baltimore County, where he met up with his good friend, former Democratic State Senator Bobby Zirkin.
Gov. Hogan then finished the day in Timonium, where he visited the Maryland State Fair–one of his favorite end of summer traditions.
Gov. Hogan: “I was glad to be back at the fair and have the chance to speak with fairgoers and even try my hand at scooping some ice cream!”
NEW FIELD OFFICE
On Sunday, September 8, Gov. Hogan began his day in Frederick, speaking with supporters at our new Hogan for Maryland Frederick County Field Office!
Gov. Hogan: “Thank you to all of the residents, volunteers, and local leaders who joined us today.
If you are completely fed up with politics as usual in Washington like me, then join our mission to help us get back to work fixing our nation’s broken politics.”
Next, Gov. Hogan headed to the Saints Constantine & Helen Church Greek Fest in Silver Spring, where he enjoyed some great food and had the chance to meet so many members of our Greek community.
This also marked our 100th stop and counting on our Strong Independent Leadership Tour, which has once again brought us to every part of the state!
Gov. Hogan: “We are working to earn every vote with a campaign about solving problems and bringing people together. Marylanders deserve nothing less.”
Gov. Hogan then closed out the day in Gaithersburg, where he attended the Festival Salvadoreño, one of the largest Hispanic festivals in Maryland celebrating El Salvadorian Independence.
Gov. Hogan: “We enjoyed walking around the festival and connecting with so many members of our state’s Hispanic community. Thank you to Small Businesses for Hogan co-chair Dendry Aguilar and members of our Hispanics for Hogan coalition for joining us this afternoon as we walked through the festival.”
On Tuesday, September 10, Yumi Hogan and Gov. Hogan attended the Homebuilders Care Foundation, Inc.’s Annual Bull & Oyster Roast in Olney to benefit Believe in Tomorrow Children’s Foundation–an incredible organization that is near and dear to their hearts.
Gov. Hogan: “Believe In Tomorrow’s work helps keep families together during a child’s medical crisis. I have seen how this affects Maryland families first hand while receiving treatment, and know this new project will offer critical support for families in need.
I was incredibly honored to receive this year’s Robert L. Mitchell Founders Award for my work with Home Builders Care. I’m so thankful to be a part of an organization with such an important legacy of impact on our local communities, and can’t wait to see what the future holds for Home Builders Care Foundation and everyone who supports their mission.
TV INTERVIEW
That night, Gov. Hogan joined CNN’s The Lead with Jake Tapper for an interview.
Gov. Hogan: “Our campaign is about bringing people together and finding common ground to tackle the most pressing issues facing our nation. Party-line politics as usual will only deliver the usual divisiveness and dysfunction.”
Gov. Hogan released the following statement on the anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001:
Gov. Hogan: “From New York City to the Pentagon to a field in Pennsylvania, the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 shook our nation to its core. We can all still vividly remember the smoke, the fire, and the horror of that day.
Today we honor and remember the 2,977 victims who lost their lives. I ask all Marylanders to join us in praying for the victims, their families, and for all the heroic police, firefighters, and first responders who never hesitated to answer the call.
We will never forget.”
MAJOR ENDORSEMENT
On the night of September 11, Gov. Hogan was honored to receive the endorsement of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce at Route One Apparel in Towson–another big sign of momentum for his campaign.
Gov. Hogan: “As a lifelong small business owner, I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Marylanders and Americans are struggling with high prices, but we’ve already shown a better path forward. In the Senate, I will work across the aisle to get our economy moving and make life more affordable.”
“A special thank you to the founder of Route One Apparel and co-chair of our Small Businesses for Hogan coalition, Ali Von Paris, for giving us a tour of Route One’s headquarters in Towson. I’ve known Ali for over 10 years and I’m so proud of all her success."
On Thursday, September 12, Gov. Hogan had a wonderful time at the Anne Arundel County Fair in Crownsville.
Gov. Hogan: “Thank you to our Veterans for Hogan coalition chair, General John Teichert, for joining us!"

Gov. Hogan is in this race to restore normalcy in Washington, DC. It’s time to put country before party once again. With your help, we can!
When I launched my campaign for the U.S. Senate, I did so with a deep resolve to maintain the leadership style and principles that guided me during my eight years as governor.
Fifty years ago, my father, Maryland Congressman Larry Hogan Sr. made a tough decision. He became the first Republican to come out for the impeachment of President Nixon. He put aside party politics and his own personal considerations and stepped up to do the right thing for Maryland and the nation.
Today, Washington is completely broken because that kind of leadership and willingness to put country over party has become far too rare. But it’s not in my nature to sit back and watch the dysfunction continue without doing what I can to roll up my sleeves and get to work.
I’m under no illusion this will be an easy road. But I’m no stranger to uphill battles, and I know I can’t do it without your support.
I don't aspire to be a United States senator. I don’t need a title and I don’t need a job, but I’m more concerned than ever about the direction of the country and I have become more convinced that I can make a difference by taking the approach and style of leadership I had during my eight years as governor to Washington.
It’s no surprise this mindset has made me a target of the Washington partisans. Despite early polls showing a lead, I know I’m the underdog in this race. And that’s why your support TODAY is so crucial.
For eight years, we proved that the toxic politics that divide our nation didn’t need to divide our state, and we got results! Let’s get back to work again and send a message to Washington that will be heard loud and clear across the country!
