John,
Taylor Swift came out this week doubling down on her tragic support of abortion on demand.
In a post on Instagram signed “Taylor Swift, childless cat lady,” she proudly affirmed that she stands for “a woman’s right to her own body.”
These words are commonly used by abortion supporters—but what do they really mean? Does Taylor Swift really know what abortion is?
Every single day in America, over 2,800 innocent boys and girls are slaughtered by abortion.
This is horrific, inhuman, and indefensible.
Currently, abortion is legal through all nine months of pregnancy for any reason in nine states plus Washington, D.C. Those states are Alaska, Vermont, Oregon, New Mexico, Colorado, Minnesota, Michigan, Maryland, and New Jersey.
In addition, three states have loopholes that may permit “after-birth abortion”—which can include leaving babies who survive botched abortions to die.
Taylor’s use of the euphemistic phrase “her own body” to justify abortion reveals an attempt at a moral and intellectual distancing from what abortion actually is—and tragically, her fans include many young women who look up to her. When a woman is pregnant, a unique, genetically distinct, individual life begins developing in her body. This new little boy or girl has their own body and human rights.
Taylor’s statement shows the extreme cognitive dissonance so many people today are plagued by: in support of “the right to her own body,” the right to rip into pieces a living, developing baby’s body is demanded. There’s zero acknowledgement in Taylor’s statement or thought given to that baby—that baby’s fundamental rights, her tiny body, her future.
The truth is this: abortion kills a baby, and our rights as women do NOT include the right to kill a baby. Never have, never will. No amount of relentless propaganda and fear-mongering will change that fact.
I know our entertainment and news media are largely captured by the abortion industry and the anti-life ideology. You get praised, invited to red-carpet events, and featured in magazines if you wear the Planned Parenthood pin and show up as the “pro-choice” feminist. That’s the world Taylor is constantly swimming in and has been for years. That world is a lie and it’s beginning to crumble, but it still has a strong hold on many women.
I believe if Taylor Swift and millions of others actually understood what abortion was—the intentional destruction of an innocent human life, a precious life that deserves love and protection—and questioned the narratives they’ve been constantly fed, we’d see huge change.
We will continue working and praying every day for that change.
I believe that change will come.
It will be an amazing day when Taylor wakes up, rejects the lie of abortion as women’s empowerment, and becomes an incredible voice for the most vulnerable—children.
