Building community support for legislation
to promote Palestinian children’s rights

Dear Supporter,

Assalamualaikum and Ramadan Mubarak.

My name is Muna Aden. I am a recent high school graduate from Minneapolis, MN. I will be attending Georgetown University in Washington, DC in the fall. This year I have had an amazing opportunity to work with American Muslims for Palestine as a Campaign Coordinator.

In my time with AMP I have been able to work and strive for greatness for my community. Through this work I have become closer and more deeply involved in the Muslim community, and I am eternally grateful to AMP for this incredible opportunity.

As a Campaign Coordinator for AMP, I have worked with Rep. Betty McCollum’s office to create a plan to build community support for HR2407, the "Promoting Human Rights for Palestinian Children Living Under Israeli Military Occupation Act".

HR2407 is the first-ever federal bill to promote human rights for Palestinian children. Many never thought that we would have legislation in Congress that supports Palestinian rights. What was seen as a dream has now become a reality because of the important work led by the No Way to Treat a Child campaign and backed by organizations like AMP.

A remote possibility might become the reality of tomorrow if we work for it. This is the essence of the month of Ramadan and this is what the mission of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) teaches us. Although he started from a disadvantaged position, his proclamations and advocacy for justice bore fruit.

Supporter, please make your generous Ramadan contribution today to AMP to continue its mission of empowering young Muslim activists like me to advocate for Palestinian rights.

Unfortunately, the Covid-19 crisis fundamentally changed our plans. However, we have worked with other AMP chapters to create a network of communication and collaboration across the nation to promote this and future bills. We are deep in the trenches with this bill, and we are working tirelessly to create community support for Palestinian children. The work for Palestine is more important than ever and we must all do our part.

I am committed to the work AMP is doing to positively transform the issue of Palestine in the United States and hope to be involved in this work when I move to DC.

Please support AMP’s critical work to build community support for Palestine by making your zakat-eligible donation today.

Thank you,

Muna Aden

PS: AMP has created resources for you to learn more about this historic bill and to ask your Representative to cosponsor it.
