Hi John,
Climate activist, Mitzi Jonelle Tan, knows what it’s like to live on the frontline of climate catastrophe in the Philippines – where people face increasingly destructive typhoons and rising sea levels.
As you’re a supporter of Global Justice Now, I know I don’t need to convince you of how urgently we need meaningful action on the climate crisis. But we need to get others on board. That’s why we’re planning to host a nation-wide speaker tour with Mitzi, to get more of the public and our politicians to join our campaign to end fossil fuels. And take serious and urgent action.
Mitzi Jonelle Tan is a key figure in the inspiring global climate movement working to end fossil fuel dependence. She helped to shape the demand for a Fossil Fuel Treaty and has been advocating for it ever since. An agreement started by climate-vulnerable island nations to phase out the oil and gas which is driving climate change. Can you help us raise the profile of the Fossil Fuel Treaty in the UK by donating £3 to our speaker tour?
Yes, I'll donate £3 ([link removed])
Yes, I'll donate £8 ([link removed])
Yes, I'll donate £15 ([link removed])
Yes, I'll donate another amount ([link removed])
We’ll be holding events in London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Dundee and Glasgow, and more possible dates to be added. And we need to raise £3,723 more to help make sure this speaker tour can boost our climate campaign.
Your donation would help cover the costs of venue hire, travel and accommodation, as well as promotion. With your backing we can seriously up the pressure on our government to get behind the Fossil Fuel Treaty.
Thank you for considering donating to our speaker tour – we hope to see you there.
In solidarity,
Izzie McIntosh

Hi John,
"Climate change is not just an environmental crisis; it is driven by decades of exploitation of both people and nature. Some of the most vulnerable countries and communities are the ones previously colonised or still colonised by the big polluters." Filipina activist, Mitzi Jonelle Tan
People living in the Philippines, like Mitzi Jonelle Tan, are on the absolute frontline of catastrophic climate change. Increasingly intense typhoons are hitting its islands, and rising sea levels are threatening to displace many communities. It’s a huge injustice that people in the Philippines, who have contributed the least to the climate crisis, are facing its most devastating impacts.
Activists from the Philippines and other climate-vulnerable nations have been leading the fight for urgent, global climate action and helping to spearhead the campaign for a Fossil Fuel Treaty. This proposal for a planned, global phase-out of the fossil fuel industry is rapidly gaining momentum. And it’s down to people like you and me to get the UK government to support it.
We urgently need to ramp up the movement pushing for the treaty in the UK, ahead of the COP climate talks in November. That’s why we’re holding a nation-wide speaker tour with Filipina youth activist, Mitzi, to help raise awareness about the treaty and how it could help hold back the destruction of the Philippines and other climate-vulnerable island nations.
We need to raise £5,500 to help us visit Edinburgh, Dundee, Glasgow, Manchester, Bristol and London this October, as well as holding an event in the Welsh parliament. Can you help us put on our speaker tour by contributing £3 today?

** Be part of our big push forward to ending fossil fuels
------------------------------------------------------------
The new UK government has come to power promising to show global climate leadership. Now we need action. While some UK politicians support the treaty, we need many more. To do this we must raise the profile of the treaty among the public and politicians, and our speaker tour with Mitzi is key.
Through these essential events we can convince more of the public it is possible to end fossil fuels justly. And show how necessary it is for change to happen as quickly as possible. With more people standing with us we can increase the pressure on politicians to support the treaty. And our talk in the Welsh parliament give us the opportunity to lobby representatives and for them to hear from Mitzi. Can you help raise the profile of the Fossil Fuel Treaty across the UK by donating to our speaker tour?

** How you can help make our speaker tour impactful
------------------------------------------------------------
People like you are at the heart of our campaigns. We couldn’t run them without our supporters, because most of our funding comes from individuals. That means if you’re able to donate, even a small amount goes to the heart of our work. By donating to our speaker tour you can help strengthen the call for the Fossil Fuel Treaty ahead of COP29 this autumn. Your donation could help with the costs of:
* International travel to get Mitzi to the UK
* Trains across the country for Mitzi and our campaigners
* Accommodation in event cities
* Hire of seven venues across the UK
* Effective online and offline promotion to fill events
A global crisis needs a global movement. And our tour will also build our alliance with Mitzi and other activists from island nations fighting for their communities’ survival. Thank you for considering being part of, and backing, this international movement today by donating.
In solidarity,
