Hello, Friends —
This week, I returned to Washington as the House of Representatives convened once again for the first session week since August recess. On Thursday, I spoke on the House floor in opposition to the proposed Continuing Resolution (CR) to fund the federal government. The latest talk in Washington has been all about which “flavor” of CR should be put forward, but this is entirely missing the point. The bottom line is that Congress should never take one up or down vote to fund the entirety of the United States government. This is precisely the reason we are nearly $38 trillion in debt!
We must break the fever dream of governing by omnibus spending bills and continuing resolutions by passing single-subject spending bills and forcing federal agencies to defend their budgets and programmatic reviews. The reason these single-subject spending bills don’t come to the House floor for a vote is entirely clear — the lobbyists and special interests who run Washington, and the leadership on both sides of the aisle, WANT it that way! These people run from any itemized review because it suits their own corrupt interests to the detriment of the American people.
We have to get back to single-subject spending bills or we will continue on the path of adding $1 trillion dollars to the U.S. debt every 100 days. Mark my words, I will keep demanding a change in the way we think, breaking the fever dream and getting back to the way the government was intended to be funded. I will vote against the Continuing Resolution as proposed by the House.

REP. GAETZ DEMANDS DOJ NAME WHO AUTHORIZED JACK SMITH TO CONTINUE HIS PROSECUTION OF PRESIDENT TRUMP
On Monday, I sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland demanding answers on who authorized Special Counsel Jack Smith to continue working as a federal prosecutor in spite of a federal judge ruling he was unlawfully appointed. Additionally, my letter demands the identification of the individual who signed off on his most recent superseding indictment of President Trump. The American people deserve to know who is weaponizing their government!
Last month, Special Counsel Smith filed a superseding indictment against former President Donald Trump and argued before the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in an attempt to overturn a federal district judge’s finding that he was unlawfully appointed by Attorney General Garland. In spite of the judge’s ruling, effectively labeling Jack Smith as a private citizen, he continues to wage lawfare against President Trump!
Pursuant to the Justice Manual, “any action likely to raise an issue or the perception of [impacting an election] requires consultation with the Public Integrity Section, and such action shall not be taken if the Public Integrity Section advises that further consultation is required with the Deputy Attorney General or Attorney General.” It is currently unclear what authority Special Counsel Smith has to file any briefs or provide services to the Department of Justice.

SOFT-ON-CRIME POLICIES ARE DESTROYING AMERICA!

During a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday, I had the opportunity to speak with Brian Ingram, a small business owner from Minnesota, about his experience with the justice system after his businesses were repeatedly burglarized. Mr. Ingram relayed that nearly every criminal who has damaged his property has been dealt little to no punishment. Even the drug dealer responsible for the death of his partner’s son is still out on the streets!
Simply put, Americans should not have to live like this. I will not sit by and allow the pro-criminal laws of blue cities to spread throughout the entirety of the country.
REP. GAETZ DISCUSSES PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE ON THE SEAN HANNITY RADIO SHOW

On Wednesday, I appeared on The Sean Hannity Show to discuss the performance of Donald Trump in the most recent presidential debate against Kamala Harris. Kamala had a very high bar to clear in order to prove to the American people that she was the right person for the job, and she did not even come close to clearing it.
The persuadable voters in this election have nostalgia for the Trump economy. Under Kamala Harris, they are diminished in their hopes and opportunities. Under the policies of a second Trump presidency, Americans can thrive once again, and he proved his ability to do so throughout this debate.
FIREBRAND EP. 170 KAMALANOMICS (FEAT. REP. ANDY BIGGS)

On Thursday’s episode of Firebrand, I was joined by Rep. Andy Biggs to discuss the disastrous state of the American economy under Kamala Harris and Joe Biden. With the economy at the forefront of the minds of many Americans, we focused on the House’s looming Continuing Resolution, the newest battle over how the government should be properly funded. Additionally, we point out recent examples of how Kamala’s open border policies have led to the migrant crime epidemic currently impacting Middle America.

Merrick Garland’s DOJ Pep Rally Proves Trump Won the Debate
“Today, Merrick Garland held a pep rally at the Department of Justice (DOJ) for his employees. Why now? Well, two nights ago, we heard President Donald Trump take aim at the weaponization of DOJ, and we heard Kamala Harris’s non-response. Trump clearly won that exchange, and the Swamp now has to play clean-up for her mess.”

Gaetz questions Jack Smith’s authority to keep up Trump probes after judge calls him ‘unlawfully appointed’
“Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., is writing to Attorney General Merrick Garland to question the legitimacy of special counsel Jack Smith’s continued probing of former President Donald Trump. Gaetz, one of Trump’s closest allies in Congress, asked Garland for ‘any written authorization’ or other documentation regarding Smith’s continued efforts despite his case against the ex-president getting thrown out by a federal judge in July.”

Gaetz Rips House Democrats’ Border Crisis Flip-Flop Ahead of Election
“‘The Democrats right now have a crisis with the electorate because the electorate wants a secure border, and they know that the border was secure under the Trump policies,’ Rep. Gaetz began, explaining this shift in border messaging from the other party. Additionally, the Florida Congressman pointed out that ‘at the front end of the Biden-Harris Administration, they owned the dissolution of the Trump policies which were working.’ As a result, Rep. Gaetz said, ‘We are going to deliver that message, particularly in the swing states where they are feeling the impact of illegal immigration more and more.’”
