Weekly Newsletter: As December 12 approaches, I am more confident than ever in our team’s ability to usher in new thinking and new solutions. We can’t wait to share with you the strategies taking shape, born from our collective dedication and your invaluable support.
Hi John,
I hope this finds you well! I’m writing from our new office in Washington, D.C., freshly energized by an all-staff retreat we held here yesterday. I flew in from South Carolina just for this gathering—it was worth every minute in that cramped middle seat!
The retreat was a special opportunity to step back from daily tasks, have some fun, and strategize for the crucial months ahead, including No Labels’ National Meeting on December 12. We had the chance to tour the beautiful hotel that will house our discussions on post-election healing and the path forward for America.
We also stepped back as a team to look at the incredible growth of our movement—especially in these past few months. We’ve welcomed 40,000 new citizen sign-ups thanks to a remarkably effective digital campaign.
It’s further evidence that we are now the home for the politically homeless—a segment of America that is growing by the day, particularly as events like the contentious presidential debate reveal just how far our parties and leaders have fallen.
We also discussed the input we’ve received from our dozens of congressional allies who are so eager to find common ground after this election and to serve as advocates for No Labels’ brand of commonsense politics. We heard directly yesterday from two of them—Reps. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) and Dusty Johnson (R-SD), who shared their encouragement and told us that our mission to give power to the middle is essential to their work.
As December 12 approaches, I am more confident than ever in our team’s ability to usher in new thinking and new solutions. We can’t wait to share with you the strategies taking shape, born from our collective dedication and your invaluable support.
Until then, let’s stay engaged, hopeful, and driven by the belief that together, we can bridge the divide and restore sanity to our politics.
Monday, September 16 at 2 PM ET Join us for the next No Labels Talks where No Labels Chief Strategist Ryan Clancy will be joined by public affairs veteran and founding partner of Forbes Tate Partners Jeff Forbes, along with polling and data gurus, Chris McNulty, VP of Political Insights at Causeway Solutions and Dritan Nesho, CEO of HarrisX. This panel will help unpack the latest developments, assess what we learned from the first debate, and explore what might unfold as Election Day draws closer. We hope you can join us for what promises to be another insightful and engaging conversation.
“One of the things that has allowed me to be really effective behind the scenes is that I don’t have any particular ambition,” Johnson said in an interview. “I’m not in competition with anybody for anything. I don’t view my work here as a zero sum game. I want to get things done.”
Amid threats from abroad, Americans need to start demanding more from their elected officials. We need a country-over-party agenda. We need the moral courage to do what’s right. We need more statesmen and fewer partisans. We as citizens must want and demand it.
On this week’s episode of No Labels Talks, our host Ryan Clancy is joined by The Wall Street Journal’s Political Economic columnist Joseph Sternberg. Sternberg is a 20-year veteran of the Journal and we’re thrilled to have him join as our guest to break down three potential economic shocks that could arise in the coming months, as well as both campaigns’ economic strategies and what they mean for the future of the U.S. economy. Tune in to hear his thoughts on the potential for an October surprise, how political dysfunction leads to economic dysfunction, and so much more.
We need your help, pitch in $3 or whatever you can to keep this movement growing. Your contributions go directly towards our efforts to support problem solving in America and bring common sense to Washington.
