As we head into fall, we are gearing up for one of the most critical elections in our nation’s history. It’s an election that could determine whether you keep your hard-fought workplace rights – or even have a job at all – by this time next year. Luckily, your union is in the fight – and we’re fighting to win.
We’re laying it all out for you in the latest edition of the Government Standard.
We’re also looking back at our 43rd National Convention, held in Las Vegas last month. AFGE delegates elected national officers to lead our union for the next three years and celebrated the many members, leaders, and activists who have gone above and beyond in service to the labor movement and our country.

Vice President Harris has a history of standing with AFGE and fighting to better the lives of America’s working families – which is why AFGE’s National Executive Council voted in July to endorse Harris’ bid to be the next U.S. president.

More than 110 right-wing organizations collaborated with more than two dozen officials from the first Trump administration to craft a blueprint for a second Trump term that calls for firing up to one million federal workers and dismantling many of the federal agencies and programs that benefit Americans. It’s one of many reasons we can’t go back to Donald Trump’s failed policies of the past this November.

AFGE will be mounting a historically large Get Out the Vote effort ahead of the November elections. Our union will be targeting our election outreach efforts to at least one state in every AFGE district and deploying dozens of members and staff to support the AFL-CIO’s voter outreach efforts – one of the largest volunteer efforts among unions.
