Dear Friend,

In this week's roundup: Voting to protect our farmland from China and meeting with Iowans on Capitol Hill. That and more – remember to follow my Facebook page by clicking here and my Twitter page by clicking here to stay up-to-date throughout the week!

PROTECTING OUR FARMLAND FROM FOREIGN ADVERSARIES

On my 36 County Tour and Feenstra Agriculture Tour, I have repeatedly heard from Iowans – especially our farmers – about the importance of protecting our farmland from foreign adversaries. It is a major concern for me that countries like China have increased purchases of American farmland tenfold over the last decade to control our land and threaten our food, energy, and national security.

That's why I voted to add the Secretary of Agriculture to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States so that we have another safeguard to ensure that our farmland does not fall into the hands of our enemies.

Last year, an amendment that I led to ban China from buying American farmland suitable for domestic energy production also passed the U.S. House of Representatives as part of the Lower Energy Costs Act.

I will continue to work to prevent China, North Korea, Russia, Iran, or any of our foreign adversaries from buying our fertile and productive farmland.

MEETING WITH THE SIOUX CENTER CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

On Wednesday morning, I welcomed the Sioux Center Chamber of Commerce to Congress.

We had a productive conversation about retaining a strong workforce for rural healthcare, passing the Farm Bill, reducing our $35-trillion national debt, and supporting economic development in Iowa.

CONGRATULATING BRETT AND TINA VANDE HOEF ON BEING RECOGNIZED AS 2024 ANGELS IN ADOPTION HONOREES

This week, I had the pleasure of meeting with Brett and Tina Vande Hoef who were recognized as 2024 Angels in Adoption Honorees.

Iowans like Brett and Tina help ensure that every child can be part of a family and have a safe, loving place to call home.

WE MUST REPEAL THE DEATH TAX

Death should not be a taxable event.

That's why I introduced legislation to permanently repeal the death tax.

We need to let our family farms and family-owned businesses keep more of their hard-earned money after decades of hard work and sacrifice.

Rep. Feenstra Works to Repeal Estate Tax

Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-IA), the vice chair of the House Ways and Means Committee's Rural America Tax Team, is working to shield family businesses across America from damaging tax burdens by targeting the estate tax for repeal. As part of the NAM's "Manufacturing Wins" campaign, which aims to protect pro-manufacturing provisions from 2017 tax reform [...]

TALKING ABOUT THE FARM BILL WITH THE IOWA PORK PRODUCERS ASSOCIATION

I always enjoy having the Iowa Pork Producers Association in my office to talk about the importance of hog farmers to our economy in Iowa.

We covered the need to overturn California’s Prop 12 mandates on our producers and pass the Farm Bill to deliver relief and certainty for our hog farmers.

It was also great to catch up with Dwight Mogler — a hog farmer and member of my Ag Advisory Board.

RECEIVING THE ASSOCIATION OF EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURERS' CHAMPION OF THE INDUSTRY AWARD

I’m humbled to be one of four lawmakers to receive the Association of Equipment Manufacturers’ Champion of the Industry Award this year.

Equipment manufacturers help our farmers feed and fuel our country and the world, and it’s important that we advance policies that support American manufacturing and the good jobs this industry creates.

I will continue to advocate for pro-growth tax and agricultural policies that strengthen our economy, bolster American agriculture, and support our equipment manufacturers.

WE CAN'T DELAY PASSING THE FARM BILL

It has been more than 110 days since I voted for, and the House Agriculture Committee passed, the Farm Bill. Yet, during that time, Senate Democrats have not even bothered to release their own bill text or work with Republicans to support our farmers and producers before the September 30 expiration of the Farm Bill.

Republicans on the House Agriculture Committee wrote a Farm Bill that strengthens crop insurance, increases reference prices, opens new export markets, invests in agriculture education, and keeps China away from our farmland.

I strongly encourage Senate Democrats to work with us to support our farm families and American agriculture.

U.S Representative Randy Feenstra Urging For Passing Of Farm Bill Before Expiration At End Of The Month

U.S. Representative Randy Feenstra (R-IA) is urging Senate Democrats to act to pass the Farm Bill before its expiration at the end of the month. In May of this year, the U.S. House Agriculture Committee passed its

TOUCHING BASE WITH THE IOWA FARM BUREAU

I’m glad that my Legislative Assistant — Josh — could meet with the Iowa Farm Bureau and producers from Sac, Winnebago, Harrison, Humboldt, and Franklin counties.

We need to pass the Farm Bill and support the production of homegrown biofuels to keep our rural communities strong.

ADVOCATING FOR HOMEGROWN IOWA BIOFUELS

I’m honored to be recognized as a Biofuels Champion and receive the 2024 Fueling Growth Award by Growth Energy for my work to support Iowa biofuels and our hardworking farmers.

Homegrown American biofuels are critical to our energy, economic, and farm security!

ONE LAST THING: SIOUX CITY RAILROAD MUSEUM'S HOLOCAUST EXHIBIT BEING RESTORED FOLLOWING FLOODS

I'm glad to hear that the Sioux City Railroad Museum's Holocaust exhibit is being rebuilt after it was damaged by flooding this summer.

We must continue to keep our neighbors who are still picking up the pieces after the devastating floods in our thoughts and prayers.

Railroad Museum's Holocaust exhibit rebuilding after flooding

With the historic flooding this year causing businesses and homes to be wrecked, the Sioux City Railroad Museum's Holocaust exhibit was also damaged.

MY WEEKLY COLUMN: STRENGTHENING OUR STRATEGIC POSITION AGAINST CHINA

China poses a uniquely concerning threat to the United States.

We want Iowa farmers – not China – to control our farmland. We need to protect our IP and critical infrastructure from Chinese hackers for the sake of our economic stability. We must investigate and prosecute crimes against our farmers, workers, and businesses to defend our national security. We have an obligation to American taxpayers to stop sending money to China to develop its EV manufacturing capabilities and plunder the world’s natural resources.

Serving on the House Agriculture Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee, I will continue my work to strengthen our strategic position against China and keep the United States the strongest, most prosperous country in the world. It’s a critical mission for our country.

Read more in my weekly column below.

My weekly column: Strengthening our strategic position against China

For decades, China has threatened our national security through both overt and covert measures.
