Small businesses are the backbone of this country. In a city as diverse as New York City, small businesses are what keeps the New York economy going. There are over 200,000 small businesses in New York City, bringing in billions of dollars per year to our economy. 

Everyday Americans can fulfill the American dream by opening up their own mom and pop shop—but we still need to protect these businesses from corporate greed. Our economy was built off of small businesses, but these businesses now face constant threats from major corporations. As the top Democrat on the House Small Business Committee, I have been fighting for greater protections for small businesses for decades.

During my time on this committee, I have fought to ensure Congress is providing small businesses with access to financing and resources they need to thrive. For my entire career, I have stood up for small businesses and made sure they all have what they need to succeed.
