A Note From Chrissy

If you're a parent, I hope you're experiencing the excitement (and relief!) that comes with that first week of school. Although my daughters are well past school age, August was filled with plenty of excitement (and some relief!) – and I'm eager to share updates with you!

Taking the DNC stage with other elected veterans

I had the privilege of joining over 100 fellow delegates from Pennsylvania in Chicago to celebrate our ticket - Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz. In addition to the convention speeches you see on TV, there are a bunch of meetings, panels, and, yes, parties. Since my favorite evening is one spent in my pajamas with a glass of red wine, I mostly skipped the parties. 🙂

If you watched the convention on Thursday night and saw the tribute to veterans, maybe you caught my appearance: I had the chance to get on stage with my fellow veterans serving in Congress to highlight support for the Harris-Walz ticket among veterans.

I have the deepest respect for Governor Walz's impressive service record and the 24 years he wore the uniform. I have absolute confidence that he and Vice President Harris will lead with our service members and veterans top of mind. As Congressman Ruben Gallego said, they "don't just respect our service, but revere it."

Visiting the Site of the Attempted Assassination

As a member of the Bipartisan Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump, it's my job to get the answers that the American people deserve. One of our first actions was to visit the site in Butler and meet with law enforcement.

As a veteran, but also as an operator and systems engineer, I'm committed to using my unique understanding of systems, procedures and protocols to help discover what happened on that day. I look forward to working with my colleagues, combing through the facts, and pushing through improvement so this never happens again.

Securing community funding for our youth

For over 20 years, the Garage Youth Center has empowered students in Kennett Square and Avondale to pursue the potential in every aspect of their lives. That's why, this year, I was proud to secure $112,500 for the center in a Community Project Funding grant.

I stopped by a few weeks ago to get an update on their work and see the plans for the renovation of their Avondale facility. I look forward to visiting again when the rain garden, green roof, and outdoor classroom are done!

Recent Labor Endorsements

I'm honored to have earned the endorsements recently of the AFL-CIO, the NEA-PSEA (teachers!), PASNAP (nurses!), and NASW-PACE (social workers!). Pennsylvania has a rich, impressive labor history, and unions continue to be at the forefront of ensuring all working people get a fair shake and the paycheck their hard work deserves. In Congress, I'll continue to be a fierce advocate for our unions and working families across Chester and Berks counties.

That's all for now! We're just two months out from Election Day, and I'll be back with plenty of exciting updates in the weeks ahead.

As always, thank you for being a part of this team and choosing me to do this important work on your behalf.
