John,
I am running to serve CA-30, but I’m still your Assemblymember until the year ends. Others may have made campaigning their full-time job, but I was elected to make change for the better, and I never stopped doing my job.
I'm proud to share that this work has paid off. Let me share five of the bills that I authored which have reached Governor Newsom’s desk. If signed, they will have a meaningful impact on Californians in Glendale, our district, and across the state:
The Room to Roam Act (AB 1889), enhances wildlife connectivity and prioritizes corridors to allow our biodiversity to thrive, allowing us to thrive. Wildlife connectivity corridors protect both human and animal life by providing protected spaces for animals to migrate while reducing traffic collisions and other unwanted interactions.
Wetlands Forever (AB 2875), protects California’s precious and dwindling wetlands from a recent Supreme Court decision which dismantled protections for our nation’s wetlands. Our wetlands are critical habitat for our state's native species and serve as natural barriers protecting us from flooding. They are not for sale.
Universal Basic Income (AB 2263), evaluates existing programs & develops best practices so that California will know how to implement future UBI programs. Universal basic income has been shown to increase employment and decrease poverty and homelessness, and it’s important that we get this right to break the cycle of deep poverty.
Paraquat Evaluation (AB 1963), forces the Department of Pesticide Regulation to reevaluate, and hopefully ban, paraquat. Every Californian relies on crops grown on local farms to feed their family, and growing and picking our food shouldn’t cause the farmworkers who feed us to contract Parkinson's disease or cancer.
Ending Sexual Assault on College Campuses (AB 810), helps prevent professors and coaches credibly accused of harassment or sexual assault from being hired at new campuses and endangering new students. Sexual impropriety should never mar what should be some of the best years of young adults’ lives.
I will never stop bringing the fight for basic decency and well-being of our neighbors and community – in Glendale, and in Washington. But working to get these passed has meant less time doing the less fun parts of campaigning, and that is where I hope you can help:
If you’re able, please donate $3 today to help ensure we bring proven, effective leadership to Washington.
