Dear John,
It’s National Disability Voting Rights Week: a week to ensure that voters with disabilities have the information and access they need to cast their ballot.
There are an estimated 38 million Americans with disabilities who are eligible to vote. Nationally, people with disabilities voted at a 3.6% lower rate than nondisabled voters in the 2022 midterms.
VoteRiders is here to help! In addition to our digital resource center for voters with disabilities, [[link removed]] VoteRiders works with numerous organizations that work closely with voters with disabilities to make sure they have the information and free help they need to cast a ballot that counts.
I recently spoke with Renaldo Fowler at Disability Rights Arizona and David Carey at Arizona Statewide Independent Living Council, two groups that VoteRiders works closely with. [[link removed]] Together, we discussed the additional barriers disabled voters face when trying to participate in the electoral process in Arizona and across the country:
*Transportation can be a major barrier. Some voters have to go 16 miles or more to their nearest polling location, which can present a challenge for voters who can’t drive. Transportation can also be a barrier when voters need to get to a DMV to secure an ID card.
*Many polling locations as well as voting machines are not accessible.
*Voter ID requirements for mail and in-person voting can be strict and confusing.

This National Disability Voting Rights Week, please share VoteRiders’ state-by-state resources widely. [[link removed]] If any voters you know need help getting an ID before November 5, VoteRiders can help for free. [[link removed]] We’ll cover the fees and transportation costs, too.
In solidarity,
Erin Carden
Digital Communications Coordinator
VoteRiders
P.S. VoteRiders always covers the fees and transportation costs of getting an ID, because we believe cost should never be a barrier to the ballot box. Donate today and your gift will help voters get the ID and information they need before November 5!
