Hello John,
We’re sure you’ve heard the ridiculous claim that there aren’t any good
alternatives to big government health care programs countless times this
election season.
The fact is nothing could be further from the truth. At AFP, we have lots of
great ideas to improve health care that empowers patients like you and your
doctors, not insurance companies or government programs.
Most of these health care policies can be found in the Personal Option
<[link removed]>
. The Personal Option stands in stark contrast to big government plans like
Medicare for All and the Public Option because it gives individuals and
families more personal control over their own health care decisions, from the
kind of coverage they want to the doctors they want to see to the treatments
they want to try.
The Personal Option would take government payments that now go to insurance
companies and give you control of that money. We call it funding patients, not
the system. That way, providers have to compete for your business, and this
competition would reduce prices without government price controls.
What are Washington bureaucrats offering? More of the same failed policies,
including an expansion of Obamacare. But we know how that program has exploded
the cost of health care.
If you recall, Obamacare was supposed to cut the average American’s health
care premiums by $2,500 a year for all Americans – even if they weren’t on
Obamacare. At least that’s what Barack Obama and the Democrats promised. The
results, as you know, have been far different. Back in 2010, the average
premium for family coverage was $13,770 a year. Now, it’s about $24,000.
Does that sound like a reduction to you? Do we really want more of the same?
Or do we want to chart a new course that puts patients in control instead of
government or insurance companies?
Won’t you help us spread the word about the Personal Option
<[link removed]>
by letting your elected officials know you want to fund patients, not the
system?
