Dear John,
Climate chaos is hitting our planet hard, and the consequences can be seen everywhere. Places across the country reached record-breaking high temperatures–some even breaking multiple records just this summer alone–and Oregon was no exception. These extreme temperatures are threatening not just keystone species like native bees, but also our forests, farms, and fisheries, putting lives and livelihoods at risk.
We’re taking bold steps to address the devastating effects of climate impacts at the state level, but it won’t be enough unless the entire country is in this together. That’s why it’s so important to support new opportunities for clean energy, jobs, justice, and nature conservation that are currently moving at the national level. Learn more about the ongoing fight for climate action and environmental protections in D.C. at our upcoming virtual town hall with Senator Jeff Merkley.

WHEN: Tuesday, October 8th, exact time TBD. Mark your calendars today!
WHERE: Zoom webinar (link will be shared a few days before the town hall)
Senator Merkley is a climate and environmental champion. He strongly supported and worked to pass the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act, which made historic investments to help address the climate crisis and make progress on environmental justice. Last year, he introduced the Pollinator Power Act to help reverse the decline in pollinator populations.
On October 8, Senator Merkley will update us on what he is working on now, talk to us about how the climate investments of the IRA will benefit Oregon, and answer selected audience questions
Hope to see you there,
Lindsey Scholten
