More than 2,331 people have sent a letter to U.S. Congress urging them to back strong climate justice policies at COP29 in November. Will you join them to show powerful support for the millions of people in communities around the world at risk of climate-driven disasters? — The Mercy Corps team ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Mercy Corps <[email protected]> Date: Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 9:09 AM Subject: ✏️ Act now: Climate change is wreaking havoc |
Dear friend, Disease outbreaks. Malnutrition. Polluted air and water. Crop destruction. Loss of income. The climate crisis is wreaking havoc on communities across the globe — and causing the greatest harm to those who are least responsible for climate change. In fact, according to a recent study, by 2050, it’s anticipated that more than 200 million people will need humanitarian assistance every year due to climate-related disasters. We need our leaders to meet this moment. In November, global leaders will gather at the 2024 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) to advance climate action. The decisions made there will have a profound impact on the lives most at risk of suffering from the effects of climate change. Tell your member of Congress to support strong U.S. policies that help vulnerable communities adapt and cope in the face of climate disasters.

We must act now to urge Congress to prioritize ambitious climate goals: Please take two minutes to show your support for communities affected by climate change. Sincerely, The Mercy Corps team |
