Governor Gordon Praises Injunction Ruling for BLM Waste Prevention Rule

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Governor Mark Gordon is praising a Thursday ruling in Federal District Court in North Dakota that challenges the Bureau of Land Management’s gas flaring rules. Governor Gordon offered the following statement:

“This is a great first step and an extremely positive indication that our legal case will continue to find success moving forward. I thank our Attorney General and her staff, as well as the Wyoming Dept. of Environmental Quality and Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission for expertly making the case for Wyoming’s leadership in how we responsibly manage emissions without constructing burdensome roadblocks for our oil and gas industry. Once more, the Attorney General has directed our participation in a coalition of states to protect Wyoming’s interests.

Governor Gordon added, “It is encouraging to see Wyoming’s fight against unreasonable BLM policies and the Biden-Harris Administration’s agenda producing tangible results for our hometown companies. This fight is nowhere near completed and there is still much work to be done to protect Wyoming’s economy from the onslaught of other regulations.”

Judge Traynor’s ruling enjoins the BLM from enforcing their Methane Waste Prevention Rule in Wyoming, North Dakota, Montana, Texas, and Utah. The injunction will remain in place as the case progresses forward. A copy of the ruling can be found here.
