In recent months and years, we’ve talked a lot about “extremists,” because Donald Trump and his MAGA movement have ushered in an era of extremism in politics that’s unlike anything we’ve seen in our lifetimes.
But this latest move by my opponent genuinely brings new meaning to the word extreme.
Gallagher was described by his own platoon members as “bloodthirsty,” “toxic,” “freaking evil,” and “perfectly O.K. with killing anybody that was moving.”
And this is who my opponent wants to CAMPAIGN with?
I’m disgusted by this, and it’s particularly disheartening considering that he’s running to represent a district with one of the largest military communities in the world.
While Gallagher’s war crimes might not bother my opponent – or Donald Trump, who personally intervened to reverse Gallagher’s punishment from the Navy – they fly in the face of the values of the U.S. military and every member who has so honorably served our country.
I am proud to serve on the House Armed Services Committee and I refuse to let my opponent anywhere near the United States House of Representatives – he’s made it clear that his values simply don’t reflect the people of San Diego.
If you’re with me on this, please consider donating to my re-election campaign today to make sure we keep Bill Wells far away from Congress.
