WHERE WE STARTED: We are in the midst of an overdose crisis. It’s an urgent public health emergency that affects all of us. But parties and candidates across the political spectrum have fallen short on providing real solutions to the overdose crisis that are proven to save lives.

WHAT WE DID: We refused to stand by as candidates played politics with people’s lives. So we launched a petition calling on ABC News to address overdose at the recent presidential debate by asking the candidates: How will you save lives during the overdose crisis?
We are grateful for the thousands of you who signed our petition. Unfortunately, there were no clear questions or answers about drug policy and the overdose crisis at the debate. With Americans dying of preventable overdose deaths every day, it’s so upsetting that this crisis isn’t being treated like the urgent public health emergency it is.
