Dear John,
We are now less than 60 days away from this year’s crucial elections, and the stakes couldn’t be higher.
It is essential that we make sure that the needs of America’s 135 million poor and low-income Americans are front and center ahead of the presidential election and other crucial races – like those for state house and important ballot referendums.
We can’t let those in power forget that we lose 800 people a day in this country because of the consequences of poverty, nor that even as the richest country in the history of the world, we still don’t guarantee health care for all.
We are working to change all that by mobilizing at least 15 million poor and low-wage infrequent voters across the country ahead of this year’s elections.
In every battleground state, poor and low-income voters made up many times the margin of victory for the presidential race in 2020. That means that this swing vote has the power to decide this election.
But that’s only if we educate and mobilize these voters.
From September 13th through September 15th, we’ll be hosting the National Canvassing Weekend. All weekend, Poor People’s Campaign leaders will be conducting door-to-door canvassing, tabling, and other outreach in targeted communities to mobilize poor and low-income infrequent voters.
Do you have time to help us mobilize voters during the National Canvassing Weekend? Click here to sign up with a Poor People’s Campaign state coordinating committee near you.
Meanwhile, it’s essential that you have everything you need to make sure you vote this year. Use the infographic below to learn how to check your registration, register, and make a plan to vote.
It’s also important to understand your rights. If you or someone you know has a problem voting, use the information below to get help understanding your ballot, finding where you need to vote, or to report issues while voting.
As part of our efforts to mobilize voters, we are also sharing this promotional video to get out the vote. It features the voices of poor and low-income workers who joined us for the Mass Poor Peoples and Low-Wage Workers’ Assembly and Moral March on Washington D.C. and to the Polls on June 29th, in Washington, D.C.
We would appreciate it if you could watch it and share it among your family, friends and social networks.
Finally, we put together this voter guide to help guide your vote in this year’s elections. It will help you see where the major candidates and parties stand on the issues of the day. We encourage you to share it among your family, friends and social networks.
You can also help spread the word among your friends, family, and social networks.
