It's official – the NFL is back, signalling not only the return of fall, but also a triumphant return of my football jokes...Why did the football sigh?

It was “deflated”!

In case you missed it, great news from British Columbia as flush toilets and running water are officially coming to large construction sites in the province starting October 1st. Following years of advocacy and pushing for improved conditions for workers, this is a huge win for the BC Building Trades and has set a new standard for jobsites right across the country. Ontario introduced similar legislation last year and CBTU will continue advocating at the federal-level for improved sanitation.

COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
Yesterday, the Canadian Executive Board held its quarterly meeting to discuss CBTU's legislative and member-focused priorities before parliament is back in session on Monday.

Earlier in the week, Sean provided video updates to attendees at both the Manitoba Building Trades' annual convention in Winnipeg and the Ontario Sheet Metal Workers' & Roofers' Conference in Thunder Bay. While focusing his address on the upcoming rollout of the Investment Tax Credits – expected to unlock $10B of clean tech projects right across the country – Sean also gave delegates a sneak peek of the resources CBTU is rolling out this Fall to support this important initiative.

Coming this fall, CBTU will provide support to workers and contractors directly, through:
* A dedicated ITC portal on our website
* Downloadable guides for employers on ITC compliance
* Hosting informational webinars to guide provincial and local councils

UNE NOTE DU DIRECTEUR EXÉCUTIF DU SMCC
C'est officiel - le LNF est de retour, ce qui signifie non seulement le retour de l'automne, mais aussi le retour triomphal de mes blagues sur le football... Pourquoi le ballon a-t-il soupiré ?

Il était « dégonflé » !

Au cas où vous l'auriez manqué, la Colombie-Britannique a annoncé une excellente nouvelle : des toilettes à chasse d'eau et l'eau courante seront officiellement installées sur les grands chantiers de construction de la province à partir du 1er octobre. Après des années de défense et de pression en faveur de l'amélioration des conditions de travail des ouvriers, il s'agit d'une grande victoire pour les métiers de la construction de la Colombie-Britannique, qui a établi une nouvelle norme pour les chantiers de tout le pays. L'Ontario a introduit une législation similaire l'année dernière et le SMCC continuera à plaider au niveau fédéral pour l'amélioration de l'hygiène.

CONNEXIONS COMMUNAUTAIRES
Hier, le Conseil exécutif canadien a tenu sa réunion trimestrielle pour discuter des priorités législatives du SMCC et des priorités des membres avant la rentrée parlementaire de lundi.
Réunion du CEB
Plus tôt dans la semaine, Sean a présenté des mises à jour vidéo aux participants de la convention annuelle du Manitoba Building Trades à Winnipeg et de la conférence des tôliers et des couvreurs de l'Ontario à Thunder Bay. Tout en mettant l'accent sur la mise en œuvre prochaine des crédits d'impôt à l'investissement (CII) - qui devraient débloquer 10 milliards de dollars pour des projets de technologies propres dans tout le pays - Sean a également donné aux délégués un aperçu des ressources que le SMCC mettra en place cet automne pour soutenir cette importante initiative.

Cet automne, le SMCC apportera directement son soutien aux travailleurs et aux entrepreneurs par le biais de ce qui suit :
* Un portail dédié aux CII sur notre site web
* Des guides téléchargeables pour les employeurs sur la conformité aux CII
* L'organisation de webinaires d'information pour guider les conseils provinciaux et locaux.
