Thank you for going on this journey with me and I hope you’re ready for one more inspiring story!
For Ukrainian entomologist and refugee, Yulia Ryabceva, a new chapter unfolds in Bulgaria. Here, she is pioneering efforts to tackle some of our planet’s most pressing environmental challenges.
After completing her PhD in zoology in Kyiv, Yulia’s life took a turn following the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Seeking safety in Bulgaria and hoping to continue her scientific career, she found the right fit at Nasekomo, a company that is leading the sustainable use of insects to address ecological issues.
For Yulia, this work goes beyond science; it’s about making a tangible difference. “What motivates me is the opportunity to contribute to innovative, eco-friendly solutions that have a real-world impact,” she shares. During a time of personal upheaval, her role at Nasekomo offers not only a career but also a sense of purpose and stability. "This work has given me a sense of purpose and stability during a challenging time in my life. Even in the face of adversity, I can make a positive impact on the world."
What lies ahead for Yulia? "As I build my life, I want to make the world around me better", she concludes with quiet determination.
From the devastation of war to the frontlines of environmental innovation, we have journeyed with Anowar, Opira, Jeanne and Yulia. Their stories are an inspiration for those seeking sustainable solutions in an increasingly uncertain world. Thank you for joining me on this journey, and for your unwavering support.
Warm regards,
