The summer heat is difficult for everyone – but especially for children in drought-stricken Somalia.

1.7 million people in the region are facing acute food insecurity; double what we’ve seen in previous years.

At this moment, children are disappearing before their parents’ eyes. They are waiting for someone, anyone, to step in and help them. By donating now your gift will be doubled, helping twice as many parents and children in the Horn of Africa and worldwide.

We know 1.7 million is a big number to take in. So here are three of these people – real parents named Aisho, Taliso and Najmo – talking about why your donation matters.

“My life was good but when drought and famine ravaged the land, people had to flee. There is no clean water to drink, people dug dried rivers hoping to get some water from it. I am a farmer, there have been no rains, it's absolutely dry…it’s impossible to work now since there is severe famine.” – Aisho Abukar Ali

“IRC came to help our malnourished children, they gave our children medications. This is my second time [at the clinic], one of my other children was treated here. They want to weigh him now.” – Taliso Ahmed Mohamud

“When I first brought her [to the IRC-run clinic], you could easily count her ribs... She has made huge progress.” – Najmo Omar Hassan

Give now and your matched gift can help us support parents like Aisho, Taliso and Najmo. Please act quickly. These families are running out of time.
