Friend,
In the weeks since polio reemerged in Gaza — following the first confirmed case in 25 years — UNICEF has been working tirelessly to respond.
UNICEF and partners have mobilized a mass vaccination campaign that aims to vaccinate 640,000 children under the age of 10. So far, more than 446,000 children have been successfully vaccinated during the first of two critical phases of vaccinations.
We’re deeply grateful for our community of donors that enabled UNICEF to respond urgently and protect children in need. Take a look at the effort we’re powering:
While there is no cure for polio, vaccines are able to prevent this devastating disease.
The spread of polio poses an especially dangerous threat to children in the Gaza Strip, where health, water and sanitation systems are severely disrupted. Currently, at least 95 percent vaccination coverage during each round of the campaign is needed to prevent the spread of polio. That’s why UNICEF’s work is so critically important right now.
We’re relying on supporters like you to make sure that UNICEF can continue this response and vaccinate every child.
If you are able to give, please send help to strengthen this lifesaving vaccination campaign and relief efforts for children.
Thank you for being here for children,
Shannon Coffey
