Dear John,Â
Â
With Walz as Harris’ VP pick, Minnesota’s been in the national spotlight lately. People are calling our state a “North Star” for policies that put working people first – from free school lunch and paid family medical leave to protections for voters, workers, and LGBTQ+ people.Â
Â
While Walz deserves some credit for getting these historic policies over the finish line, it was Minnesotans across race and geography who organized for decades to make these wins possible – a key part of that: electing state legislators ready to lead with and for the people. In 2023, the first year of the blue trifecta, the House and Senate introduced a record number of bills, acting swiftly to deliver for Minnesotans.Â
Â
This year, we must choose state legislators ready to build on that momentum. That's why I’m excited to announce our endorsement of three key progressive candidates for Minnesota House: Â
-
Abdi Daisane (District 14A, St. Cloud/Central MN);Â
- Jen Fox (District 41B, Hastings/Cottage Grove); andÂ
- Anquam Mahamoud (District 62B, South Minneapolis).Â
Â
All three are rising leaders. Abdi and Jen are in competitive races where we can flip House seats from red to blue.Â

Â
Minnesota has become a North Star because of progressive leaders who respond to organizing and push toward progress and people-centered policies, like Adbi, Jen, and Anquam. Electing champions like them is the most powerful way to undermine fascist threats to democracy, defend access to abortion care, and protect LGBTQ+ lives – in Minnesota and everywhere.Â
Â
With leaders like Abdi, Jen, and Anquam, we can continue to push back against fear and darkness and be a light for people here in Minnesota and across the U.S.Â
