Assalaamu 'alaykum John,

Another blessed Friday is here, and I'm checking in to see how you are
doing? I hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy at home.

I'm thinking of all those who have to venture out in this uncertain time
to perform essential jobs, donning masks and protective gear while
fasting long days and often working into the nights, risking their
health and separated from family.

I'm thinking of all those navigating their jobs in new environments, and
of those who are juggling working from home with care-giving and remote
learning, among other things.

I'm thinking of all those who are unable to work, due to job loss,
family obligations, or other circumstances.

I'm thinking of the mothers and the fathers. I'm thinking of the
children too, who have had a part of their childhood impacted as well.

I'm thinking of those who are well, but alone. Of those who are sick,
and kept apart. And I'm especially thinking of those who are grieving
loved ones, and suffering unimaginable loss.

I'm thinking of those who are struggling in any way. Of those who have
stressors and worries and difficulties beyond COVID-19.

I'm thinking of the vulnerable, and of the oppressed.

And I'm praying for us all.

I'm praying we can bear these tests with patience, with resilience, and
with grace.

I'm praying we can recognize our blessings, amidst all the difficulties.

I'm also praying that we can continue to keep our institutions and our
organizations going strong, so that they are able to fulfill their
missions during this crisis, and beyond.

Will you keep them in your prayers, too?

This Ramadan, consider diversifying your zakat and sadaqah to ensure
that we all emerge from these tests stronger, together.

If you haven't visited our Ramadan fundraiser
yet,
please do. I hope it inspires you to support our mission - and the
beneficiaries who rely on us most.

Because in defending the rights of one, we protect the rights of us all.

Jumu'ah Mubarakah,

Khalil Meek
