Hi John --
A quick update from me on
cancer drugs.
You might remember our
campaign commitment for 13 new cancer treatments. Well, we went even
further, with a $604 million investment in Pharmac for up to 26 new
cancer treatments.
I’m very excited to tell you
the first of these treatments will roll out from 1 October. It’s a
drug called Keytruda and it’ll be funded for eligible patients
battling five different cancers: advanced triple-negative breast
cancer, head and neck cancer, colorectal cancer, bladder cancer, and
Hodgkin lymphoma.
In more good news,
consultation opened today for two more cancer treatments, focused on
lung and breast cancer. And for those families affected by cancer,
this could be lifechanging.
It’s only through a strong
economy that we can keep investing in world-class healthcare and
that’s why National is doing everything we can to stop wasteful
spending, reduce inflation and get the red tape roadblocks out of the
way in our economy.
Thank
you, Christopher
