It’s late, but I want to share an update on my race for U.S. Senate.

It’s easy to forget, but it’s important that we all keep one simple thing in mind in the leadup to November: Republicans won the last statewide election here in Virginia — the 2021 race for governor.

Yes, the margin was super tight (less than 64,000 votes), but I’ve long been a student of Virginia politics — and close elections are what we do here.

Republican strategists see an opportunity to catch Virginia Democrats asleep at the wheel — that’s why they’re raising millions from national GOP mega-donors to replicate the 2021 results and flip our state red.

Losing in VA would be disastrous. If Republicans are able to pull off a victory here, Democrats will lose control of the Senate — and in all likelihood, Donald Trump will be elected President. It would pave the way for a total GOP takeover in Washington.

But here’s the good news: I know how to win statewide elections in Virginia. I’ve already done it FOUR times, and I have no plans to end that streak now.

But if we’re going to win, we cannot get complacent. And the truth is, Democrats need a major boost to our fundraising if we’re going to reach our goals and deliver key victories — and September is the most important fundraising month of the campaign to date.
