Hi John,

First, I hope this note finds you healthy at home. We were so inspired by our TFN community's seamless transition to this virtual space in April -- thank you for standing with us! Please know that TFN’s first priority is to protect the health and safety of our staff members, supporters and volunteers like you. For this reason, we will not be holding any in-person volunteer events in May.

But during this time of physical distancing, we will continue to offer virtual ways to connect and engage with TFN right from your home.

#GivingTuesdayNow – Tuesday, May 5, 2020
We’re kicking off the month of May with an opportunity to support the Texas Freedom Network [[link removed]] during #GivingTuesdayNow – a new day of giving specifically dedicated to supporting the nonprofit community through this difficult time.

#GivingTuesdayNow is an emergency response to the enormous need caused by COVID-19. On this day of solidarity, we invite our community to come together to celebrate the strength and resilience of our TFN movement in this time of uncertainty.

If you are in a position to do so, please consider making a special #GivingTuesdayNow gift today. [[link removed]]

Virtual Volunteer Phone Banks – Ongoing Opportunity
Craving additional social interaction? We will be launching virtual volunteer phone banks this month to stay connected to our members. Sign up today to help us make calls to thank TFN donors and loyal supporters for standing with us through this challenging period.

We are still figuring out what this will look like but will be sharing more details with interested volunteers in the weeks ahead.

Please reply to this email to receive more information. [[email protected]?subject=Phonebank%20Volunteer&body=I'm%20interested%20in%20receiving%20more%20information%20on%20upcoming%20virtual%20volunteer%20phone%20banks!]

Program Spotlight – Just Texas
TFN’s Just Texas initiative is working to create a movement of progressive clergy and people of faith who support women’s access to all forms of reproductive healthcare – including abortion.

In response to the Texas politicians’ attempts to ban abortion access by exploiting a global health crisis, Rev. Erika Forbes, TFN’s Outreach and Faith Coordinator, hosted a conversation on Facebook Live earlier in April to discuss the state of abortion and faith in Texas during the COVID-19 pandemic.

If you were not able to join us for the live event, we encourage you to watch the recording of this engaging panel discussion [[link removed]] at your convenience.

Program Spotlight – Civics Y'all!
At times it can seem like the political process was designed to keep us OUT. But Civics Y'all [[link removed]] , Texas Rising's newest power-building initiative, is here to fill in the gaps!

By crowdsourcing education topics directly from young people themselves, Civics Y'all aims to build an informed electorate by removing the element of mystery that's long been used to keep people out of politics.

In this case, knowledge is power!

Thank you for being a part of our TFN family — we are so grateful to have you by our side even when the work and the world get tough. We are here with you during this challenging and unprecedented time. If you need anything at all, please ask. Please stay healthy in the weeks ahead.

Warmly,
